Some Day I'm Gonna....

Some day I'm gonna talk about Libertarians, both small 'l' and big 'L'. Like why they're cowardly because they don't take a solid stand. Like they want to say they aren't conservatives and they aren't liberals and therefore they are better or more honest. Libertarians seem almost as intellectually squishy as "moderates" or "independents." Face it, you're on the Right side. Deal honestly with it.

What do you really believe in? Stop standing in the middle; stand up and be counted. If it's more than drug liberalism (which I too believe in), then explain why you're different from a conservative. If it's keeping government out of your life, (hey, me too) most conservatives are on the same page.

What do you believe in? If you think too many conservatives are religious, so what. I call myself a conservative and I'm not religious. What the hell has that got to do with it anyway? Because, you may as well face it, liberals see no differences between libertarians and conservatives.

And if you say you're a member of the Libertarian Party, why? Tell you what, elect more of your party in local and state elections, before you think about a President. To vote Libertarian is to say your vote is useless.

No, on second thought, I don't think I'll talk about Libertarians. So pointless. Never mind.

Yeah, it's been a while. Lots of things to post about, but too many people are saying it so much better.

Some Sanity at Last!

I feel a little better now. Some measure of sanity has been restored. As I mentioned (okay, ranted) in a previous post, an American patriot was in danger of being prosecuted for putting a halt to the illegal acts of a few visitors, yeah I'm talking about illegal aliens. Well, according to this link from Little Green Footballs, he won't be doing time.

An excerpt from a news article in the lgf posting: "Thomas says Arizona citizens have the right to make a citizen's arrest if either a federal or state felony offense has been committed in their presence, or if they believe the person they intend to arrest has committed it."

It's incredible that such a statement is required to be made. OF COURSE citizens have the right to make a citizen's arrest! And an illegal immigrant is perpetuating an ILLEGAL act that has negative effects upon all citizens.

This man was not a vigilante. Got that President Bush!

There's a New Pope In Town

My congratulations to my Catholic friends. You have a new Pope who is (horrors to some) Catholic is all senses of the word. He seems to be a true believer in Church dogma, which is what I thought a Pope should be. Well, what do I know, I'm not a Catholic or much else religious for that matter. However, if I were, I would want someone to be up front on what the church has historically stood for. Otherwise, I would change religions and become something a bit more squishy, perhaps Episcopal or Anglican. You know, a religion that is a "living" church, so that religious conviction and truth only has to depend on what makes you comfortable and forget about that old musty bible...that's so pre-Vatican II.

I Really Can't Stand (Some) Republicans

I mean let's face it, most national Democrats are scum. And for those few who aren't, well, you lay with scum, you get scummy. But that's not the issue. You expect that of Democrats. They long ago gave in to their dark natures.

My problem is with the Republicans who cooperate with the Democrats. At best, they are spineless. But mostly they are scum in denial and have not yet formally changed parties. Except for the ones who perhaps are naive, but probably are stupid. Case in point, Ohio Senator Voinovich (R). He doesn't attend the Bolton hearings, but listens to the venom from Biden, a congenital liar. No, Voinovich can't be that naive...I'm certain he's stupid. And as for Chafee, he's a Dem in Rep clothing but even he is brighter than Voinovich. And don't get started on the few in leadership positions who need a testicle transfusion.

Okay Mr. Right, breathe slowly and calmly before the men in white coats come. There.....feeling better already. I mean, I'm upset with many Republicans, but at least I'm not a Democrat, so maybe I'm ahead of the game...for now.

This Country Is Going Insane

Yes, I do think my country is going insane. We have islamists who hate us and want to destroy us. We have "friends" in Europe and Canada and Mexico who want us to be weak and submit to their will. We have illegal aliens pouring across our borders and we do little enough to stop them, even though Islamist terrorists also come with them. We have Democrats in Congress who seem to be willing fellow travelers to these people, if it will help destroy George Bush. AND NOW, we have an American who can be sent to jail for 20 years for stopping a car load of illegals and turning them over to the INS! Now for the even more insane part, the illegals that were captured want to press charges against the Patriot for forcibly preventing them from completing their illegal acts. It can only be described as insane. Can we stop this? Or have we given in the insanity? (Link is to lgf post.)

It's April 15th, and I'm feeling fine

Ahh, forget the previous post. It's April 15th, TAX DAY, and I feel very calm. No rushing to get to the post office to send in a return (with curses) or to file an extension (more curses). Taxes were filed weeks ago, on line. Even had a refund coming, which I've already received. It's the beginning of a weekend and income tax stresses are just funny stories of interest on the local news. Nope, Mrs. Right and I just had dinner and a wine cooler, and enjoying the great cool weather we've been having. You might remember, last week this time we had a tornado (even more curses). This is the way to spend Tax Day. Oh, did you get yours done on time?

Why does this happen in Florida?

Well, another young girl may have been kidnapped by a sexual offender. Sarah Lunde (of Hillsborough County-think Tampa) has gone missing and her mom's ex-boyfriend was in the house around that same time. She lived close to where Jessica Lunsford, only a few weeks ago, was kidnapped, raped and killed by a convicted pervert who was protected by his family. That's also the area where a pretty young blond teacher, female, will go on trial for making a booty call on a 14 year old (male) student.

I say that to say this: Florida has become populated with freaks, nuts and fruitcakes. Not surprisingly, most of them were not born here, but just happened to land here. I was born in South Florida and we used to joke about how many people from the north were forced to move to Florida when they turned 65...it seemed to be a law. Although they could be pains in the ass about how much better things were where they came from, they were, for the most part, harmless. We also used to joke that the nuts and fruits fell off the trees up north and gravity made sure they ended up here. But then the scum came to town and began to breed. And the drug gangs and the bodies that mysteriously appeared in the Everglades on a weekly basis.

And just a couple of days ago, a head case, very familiar with the inside of a prison, goes into a grocery store. No, this is not the beginning of a joke. He makes a scene, which results in the cops being called. While being handcuffed, he pulls out a pistol, shoots the cop (who survived) and the store manager (who didn't). He could just as easily killed others whose only "crime" was showing up for work or stopping by to pick up milk.

Don't get me wrong, it was never paradise here, regardless of what you may think when you visit in January. But it wasn't this bad. No, really, it wasn't.

UPDATE: April 16th-Sarah Lunde's body was found today. It's very sad, but I'm getting very angry at the scum who prey on young girls. There is no torture too severe for their punishment. May they burn in hell.

I'm Not Gay, But...

I'm not gay, but I've obtained better insight by reading the thoughts of gay conservatives and/or Republicans. (see previous post.)

I'm not Jewish, but I relish the opinions of Charles Krauthammer, Ben Stein and Jonah Goldberg, among so many conservative columnists.

I'm not black, but I greatly admire the intellectual forcefulness of Thomas Sowell and Walter Williams.

I'm not a woman, but I truly enjoy anything Ann Coulter says or writes.

I'm not a Catholic, but I admire the passion and clarity of Katherine Lopez and Bill Bennett.

I'm not a Canadian, but I can't get enough of the writings of Mark Steyn.

I'm not a former communist, but I respect the insights and strong convictions of David Horowitz.

I'm not a Marine, but I salute the clear thinking and sense of purpose of Oliver North.

I'm not any one of the above, yet I feel a strong affiliation with them all. I'm so glad they are here.

Yes, Florida Has Tornados

Many people don't realize it, but Florida has many tornados each year. Yes, we're not just about hurricanes here in the Sunshine State.

My area was hit by an category F1 on Thursday afternoon (4/07/05) and it was quite severe. Thankfully my home and property only had minor damage, but many of my neighbors were not so lucky. Several had damaged roofs, and too many had trees fall down on their homes.

I want to commend the government and electric utility personnel who worked in very adverse conditions to remove downed trees and restore power as quickly as was done.

Gay Republicans and/or conservatives

There is a great blog call Gay Patriot, that was hosted by 2 patriotic gay men. They both had the remarkable ability (for anyone) to think for themselves, rather than be part of a pack or gang or group or community. One of them, the Gay Patriot, was forced out of blogging by a radical, supposedly "liberal" gay blogger for reasons not entirely clear. However, it's obvious that it was mostly because the Gay Patriot was a singular person with his own opinions. I hope he returns. However there is the equally perceptive and independent Gay Patriot West (Dan) who is continuing the blog. I wish him well. Several days ago (3/27) I sent him this comment:

"I wish you well, Dan, and hope you do continue blogging. I'm a straight patriot who has really enjoyed your blogging. I've always felt there are many people relegated to groups that are not always in step with their "leaders". These people need someone to speak for them. You and Gay Patriot did just that."

I also commented on another blog, Another Gay Republican (http://anothergayrepublican.blogspot.com):

"I found your blog through Gay Patriot. Quite frankly I was astonished at the number of gay Republicans and/or conservatives out here in the blogosphere. Maybe it's because I'm straight, or maybe I've just accepted that most gay people are like Andrew Sullivan...you can enjoy their writing and appreciate their positions, even when you don't hold them yourself, but you can feel you can't rely on them to be supporters of Republicans except on one or two very narrow issues. I was wrong and I'm chastened. But also glad to see a blogger like you still out there even though darts are being thrown at you and others who think independently like you. I intend to check back. Thanks for being there."

There are other gay people who do consider themselves to be both gay and Republican or gay and conservative and they have their own blogs. I've found this very refreshing. They do not necessarily hold the same opinions or agree with my thoughts and opinions, but then I don't always agree with other straight conservatives or Republicans. I do respect their thought processes and the courage it takes to hold opinions not usually expected of gay Americans. This is a great country because there is a diversity of thought. May it continue.

Generic Blog Entry

It's been a few days since my last entry. Many things happening at work, but it would bore anyone else. Many things happening in the world, not so boring, but also difficult to opine on.

Terrific about Iraq-finalizing a new government, much to the embarrassment and anger of liberals, Democrats and fellow travelers. You know it's a good thing since the main stream media are ignoring it as best they can.

President Bush is attending Pope JPII funeral. Took along Clinton and former President Bush. The President is a good man, but I wish sometime he would snub that piece of crap Bill Clinton. But then again, he wouldn't be the man so worthy of respect that I believe him to be. Well, at least the totalitarian lover, Jimmy Carter, is not tagging along. That man has never found an American-hater that he didn't suck up to.

The NY Times on the Pope's Death-Incredible!

The New York Times has done it again. Go to Powerline blog and see the Times' anti-Catholic, anti-religious (well, except for Muslims) screed. And how they had to reserve a space in that screed to fill in with a (or any) supporter's comment. Incredible! But very believable....that's what this fish wrapper does every day.

The Pope is near death

I'm not a Catholic and don't even attend church. But I recognize that this Pope accomplished many important things, particularly during his early years. I don't know about religious matters, but I will always respect his work to free his native country of Poland and to help President Reagan and Prime Minister Thatcher cut the rotten legs from under Soviet communism. He seemed vital to the resurgence of the focus of his faith, especially in Latin America and South America. Let's face it, the Catholic faith is near death in "old" Europe, so there is little he could have done. I feel sad that Pope JPII will soon be dead, but I praise his life. His service to his religion will outlive him.

Dear Diary...

What am I doing now? Sitting at computer, reading other blogs and listening to internet radio. Classics from Southern Rock, like (just now) "Highway Song" by Blackfoot. And Lynyrd Skynyrd singing "I Know a Little" which is not on my top ten list of favorites from them, but still so much better than the dreck on Top Forty and urban stations. Yeah, I'm old, but have been fortunate to have heard so much good rock and roll since 1951. Also I've been around enough to know something is crap when I hear it. I was kind of heartened when music seemed to rebound in the 90s and it even seemed that melody and words would again be important. But sadly, the Clinton-era creep of crap continued and that brief resurgence of music died. But every ten years or so, something new happens and maybe 30 years from now the teens of today may look back and recall some great music. I hope so for them.

No Blogging on April Fools Day

Look, life can be stressful enough without trying to come up with an April Fools Day joke or a blogging thought. Too many real "jokes" in the news and too much crap there too. Just too much. So I didn't. Instead, spent the afternoon and evening with Mrs. Right. Now that's the way to spend your time.
