Right In Florida

Motto: This is what happens when Insanity and Banality come together.

Name:
Location: North Central Florida, United States

I'm an aging boomer, white male (cue scary music); not religious, mostly conservative. Married to the same woman forever. No kids-by choice (I believe in personal choice in most areas of life). Voted mostly Republican until November 2000 when the national Democrats tried to steal the election in Florida. I promised to never again vote for another Democrat; kept that promise to date.

Tom Tancredo-wrong about (south) Florida?

Well, this is fun.

"Look at what has happened to Miami. It has become a Third World country. You just pick it up and take it and move it someplace. You would never know you're in the United States of America. You would certainly say you're in a Third World country," Tancredo said.

Bush, who plans to move to Miami after vacating the governor's office, said in the letter, "Miami is a wonderful city filled with diversity and heritage that we choose to celebrate, not insult."

Late Tuesday night, Tancredo responded with a letter to the governor, defending his view.
"I certainly understand and appreciate your need and desire to try and create the illusion of Miami as a multiethnic "All American" city. Indeed sir, one of us is naive," the letter said.
Tancredo said a growing number of Miami residents don't speak English, one of the few things that holds Americans together.

I understand Gov. Bush's concerns, as well as other Miamians and South Floridians. Hell, I was born in Ft. Lauderdale and spent most of my life in South Florida and was in Miami a lot. And I think I'm a patriotic American.

In politics, Miami has long been run as if a banana republic. Most of the Cubans I knew when they came here in the 1960s, were fully intending to return. They did not think of themselves as Americans. Of course, much of this changed over the years and I believe those of my age gladly adopted this country and became Americans. But it wasn't just Cubans. We became so very 'cosmoplitan' and multi-cultural that pride in country and history became lost. There was a reason for the saying several years ago: "will the last American who leaves Dade County please take the flag and turn off the lights."

I left 20 years ago, but I still keep in touch with friends. And from what I hear, Tancredo is not completely right...but he has a point.

Alcee Hastings-Florida's Pride

Well, darn! Rep. Alcee Hastings wasn't chosen by Nancy Pelosi for a very important position. I'm thinking racism is involved. Hell, Al was no more crooked than John Murtha. And being impeached is a badge of honor for Democrats. Hell, a resume enhancer.

But that's not important right now.

I just want to puff out my chest and say that we here in Florida take pride in our crooks and rascals...and elect them to office. Well, if they're Democrats of course. Republicans are outcasts whose names are never mentioned again.

Florida...the rules really are different here, as The Florida Masochist so often points out.

Well, here we go again

I'm involved in another project that will soon be in the media. If I'm sure of anything, the press will botch the facts, circumstances and particulars, but will be sure to punch up only one side of the story. Because to do otherwise would require them to actually do some real legwork and learn something that can't be summarized by a soundbite and 10 seconds of video. Besides it will be a month before all the facts are available, and who has time for that?

I'm not particularly well-liked in my job, but I always know I'm better liked (and hopefully respected) than lawyers, politicians and media types. But, hell, who isn't?

Let the games begin!

Religion of Peace, My Ass! (Part 14)

Yeah, the Religion of Peace provides an example of how patriotic their 'American' imams are. How stupid, venal, woman-hating and terrorist-loving must you be to become an imam? Is there a sliding scale? Or is there grading on a curve?

This was an obvious ploy for attention...and another shot in the war with Islamic terrorism. If these scum are allowed to get away with this and thereby encourage airlines and their customers to become lax, the imams' terrorist buddies will have even greater access to committing terrorism.

And where the hell are the so-called Muslim moderates? Most apparently are cowards or fellow travelers. Oh the hell with it. I'm supposed to 'move-on' and this doesn't sound like I've gotten a handle on that. But I'm making peace with the knowledge that our patriotic Democrat overlords in congress will protect us.)

Senator Jim Webb

Class shows.

Democratic Sen.-elect Jim Webb avoided the receiving line during a recent White House reception for new members of Congress and had a chilly exchange with President Bush over the Iraq war and his Marine son.

You've read about it, especially how Webb thought about slugging the President.

Yep, class shows. George Bush has it. Jim Webb doesn't. But he makes up for it by being a prick.

This prick was supposed to be a strong military conservative. Someone who would change the culture in Washington. Someone different from all those mean Republicans.

Tell me again why it's not a bad thing that Democrats have taken over congress. And how many of the new Democrat congressman are actually more honest, moderate or conservative and just plain better than their Republican opponents. 'Cause I keep forgetting all those reasons I was told.

Curse you, Microsoft!

I 'converted' to MS Internet Explorer 7 last week. Didn't want to, but I guess peer pressure got me. Now my computer is running slower than crap flowing uphill.

I blame global warming!

Must remember to be stronger. No street drugs and no MS upgrades...now that's a plan.

Oh, no! It's global warming!

That must be the explanation.

Snow flurries last week. And warm rainy days this week.

I'm so confused! Glad I can blame global warming.

Feel better now.

Happy Thanksgiving Day!

It will be a good day to be thankful. And I will be.

Politics haven't gone the way I'd hoped. But that's of lesser importance.

I'll be at home with Mrs. Right. And it'll be all right.

---------------------
(btw, Betty, thanks for stopping by and come back anytime. I hope you also have a great Thanksgiving.)

Snow in Marion County...Florida?

Hell, yeah!

Snow flurries, actually, occurred Tuesday evening.

Nothing stayed on the ground of course. But lots of places got some tiny, tiny flakes.

No snow tires required.

I blame global warming.

Do you like country music?

There's a great country station WGWD-FM (93.3) and plays some good music. It's in Quincy FLA (think Tallahassee area) and it's an independent station.

I know one of the DJs. Calico and I went to high school back when the dinosaurs roamed.

I highly recommend this station, even if country isn't your first choice of music.

They just started webcasting. Catch them at www.wgwdfm.com/ or click here.

But there is even more horrible news

Two small children (boy-8, girl-2) were found dead in a lake aftrer the family boat sank. The mother, father and youngest sister survived. If the facts are true, the father will beat himself up for the rest of his life. Deservedly so.

Trenton Duckett-maybe some good news

Well, maybe Melinda Duckett's son is still alive and is being hidden. There is a compelling new development.

I don't believe it.

But this has been such an insane and horrific story that anything is possible.

Here's hoping.

Thank you, Veterans

I thank everyone who served in uniform, and especially those who were in harm's way, for your service. Too often thankless, but always needed. More than one day of appreciation is called for.

UPDATE
For a moving post about veterans, from veteran, go to Media Lies.

Now, for something completely different

Mrs. Right and I took a 2 week driving vacation last month. We went from Florida to: Georgia, S. Carolina, N. Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. I've not posted much on it yet. We had a great time and I hope to have a more descriptive post shortly.

Being with Mrs. Right. That's what's really important. And why I have 'moved on.' (Or will, at some time.)

George McGovern!!

So the Democrats are the party of change, huh.

And they bring in George McGovern to meet with Congress on the war!

Yeah, that was a very bright idea to think a divided government would be good for America.

Tell me again why the Republicans should have been replaced? Some thought it was important to do so, or at least it wasn't a bad idea. Gonna be a very long 2 years 'till the next election. I hope America is still around.

(But I'm not angry...or upset...or fearful. Hell no, not me. I've 'moved on.'

Good News, Democrats!

Oh, and for all you RINOs and "cut and run" conservatives.

"A statement purportedly from the leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq hails the defeat of Republicans in the US mid-term polls."

You all must be so proud!

I will never understand why anyone who is concerned about the safety of America-and who truly supports our warriors defending us-did not vote for every Republican congressman and senator on the ballot.

And for those who think that voting for a Democrat was the right thing to do: here's a clue-there are NO conservative Democrats who will vote/display their conservatism. Everyone will kowtow to party leadership. Talk about wasted votes.

And now...

I'm going to find my happy place.

I know how to move on.

I'm pissed...but understanding.

I still can't keep from singing "It's the end of the world as we know it" but that will stop in time.

A bright spot in Florida

Florida still remains under Republican control as the state level, at least.

Congrats to Charlie Crist...and to all of us for his election.

Congratulations, American Voters!

Congratulations, American Voters!

Let’s see what we’ve done.

Rewarded lies and Democratic kleptocracy.

Rewarded terrorist supporters and enablers.

Made America haters very glad.

Democrat military haters are jubilant.

Social Security will never have another chance of being corrected.

Taxes will be raised.

The economy will sour.

Amnesty for illegal aliens is assured, with little enforcement.

Iran is waiting.

North Korea is waiting.

All in all the perfect outcome for those who want America as a failing power.

So take a bow, America!

This is your high point. It will only get worse from here on it.

Democrats are racists!

What else can I conclude?

It’s now proven that Democrats won’t vote for an independent black man. Even in Tennessee, where a black Democrat runs against a white Republican, they vote for a white man over a black man. Gee, wonder if African Americans realize they are still on the Democrat plantation?

Calling it a night

Election returns are not very satisfactory, to me at least.

Time to get some sleep.

Perhaps tomorrow morning will have more favorable results.

But I doubt it.

btw-here are Marion County results per Supervisor of Elections.

Wow, that didn't take long

Wow, that didn't take long...for the exit polls to be released before they were promised to be released. From a review of the blogs and Drudge and NRO Online, you would think the GOP will be skunked. Geez, there was such bold talk earlier about how wrong the exit polls have been for the past 3 elections. But now there is almost panic.

Christ, I seem to be a fellow traveler with a lot of pansies!

Live Blogging - The Florida Masochist Way

The Florida Masochist says he'll "... be live blogging the election results today, with the emphasis on Florida races."

Be sure to check him out. I know I will.

*********************

And now...I'm ready to vote.

It's raining outside. Sometimes heavily.

No matter. I'm on my way to vote.

Storm, lightning, broken glass...it's all the same to me.

And why am I not depressed?

Because I have to believe that a majority of my fellow citizens will not allow Democrats and the MSM to profit from their lies, hatred and anti-Americanism.

Now I'm not a fan of humanity in general, and I don't expect much good from my fellow man, but the thought that we would allow Democrat scum to take leadership positions when they have provided no leadership is abhorrent. I just don't want to think that's possible.

Unfortunately I've met too many Democrat voters and too many of their constituents. I'm not a fan. America will finally fail when the Democrat party, as presently represented, obtains full power.

If I were a religious man, I'd be praying that this doesn't happen.

How I think voting will go

I'll be voting in a couple of hours and I'm feeling pretty confident in the result.

I was never as depressed as I would have been if I believed in the poll results over the past few months.

Because I don't believe the polls are accurate.

Not since 2000.

And especially this year.

Even the polling companies that try to get an appropriate number of Republicans and Democrats (they fail, of course) make an inherent mistake when it comes to "Independents" because of lies.

Most of these 'independent' responders are actually Democrats. And since they are Democrats, they are liars. Ergo, Democrats are over represented because a larger number of Democrats, leftists and (other) Bush-haters are polled.

So I remain confident that a maximum of only 10 House and 3 Senate seats will turn Democrat.

But maybe I need to check my medication level. I'm not usually so optimistic.

UPDATE (11/08/06)

No wait. It wasn't optimism. It was my drugs.

Now it makes sense.

Going to vote tomorrow

And I'm going to fill in the space for every Republican I find on the ballot.

That includes Kathleen Harris. I don't think she'll win, but damn it would be fun if she did.

I wish I could 'Punch Foley..." but that's not my district.

My feelings?

Lose 10 seats in the House.

Lose 3 seats in the Senate.

Yeah, I know it's highly unlikely. But those are my predictions.

And of course Charlie Crist is Governor.
