Right In Florida

Motto: This is what happens when Insanity and Banality come together.

Name:
Location: North Central Florida, United States

I'm an aging boomer, white male (cue scary music); not religious, mostly conservative. Married to the same woman forever. No kids-by choice (I believe in personal choice in most areas of life). Voted mostly Republican until November 2000 when the national Democrats tried to steal the election in Florida. I promised to never again vote for another Democrat; kept that promise to date.

Sorry America!

White House race back in Florida sun

TALLAHASSEE - Signs are everywhere that Florida will return to center stage in presidential politics next week. Howard Dean will be in Tampa on Monday evening, where the Democratic National Committee chairman will combine fundraising with a sit-down dinner with Florida Democrats to try to soothe hard feelings after the national party refused to recognize the state's primary results.

Democratic leaders said they can close any gap with McCain once they resolve the fate of the 211-member delegation to the national convention in Denver this summer. Since Florida moved up its primary in violation of party rules, the national party has refused to seat the delegation, leaving the state party in turmoil. Democrats expect the delegation issue to be resolved by May 31, when the national party's Rules and Bylaws Committee meets to consider an appeal.

A potential compromise involves recognizing at least half of the delegation, while losing half as a penalty. As another sign the national party is reaching out to Florida, DNC chairman Dean will attend a $1,000-a-plate fund-raiser and dinner with state Democrats at the Mise en Place restaurant in Tampa on Monday night. The event is being hosted by Tampa lawyer Bill McBride, a Clinton supporter, and Frank Sanchez, a Tampa businessman and adviser to Obama.

Some Democrats said Dean's appearance is an indication that the event is not just a fundraiser for the national party. "It's more of a let's all sit down and begin the healing process so that we can all come together in November to defeat John McCain," said Ana Cruz, a Democratic consultant in Tampa who is supporting Clinton. "It's really an opportunity for folks to kind of vent a little bit and tell the chairman how we feel and then move forward."

Looks like the Democrats are doing their best to ensure Floridians...Democrats at least...retain the "Stupidest Voters in America" award we got in 2000.

First Wesley Snipes, now this (Crap!)

I guess we need to get ready to be called AGAIN a bunch of racist, gun-owning, redneck haters.

OCALA - An alleged Colombian drug warlord - one of 14 paramilitary leaders extradited from Colombia to the United States Tuesday under federal charges of drug trafficking - will be tried in Ocala.

According to an indictment filed May 3, Manuel Enrique Torregrosa-Castro faces one count of conspiracy to import cocaine into the United States and one count of conspiracy to distribute cocaine.

His arraignment in Ocala is scheduled within the next 10 days. He remains in custody at a federal detention center in Tampa following a brief hearing Thursday before U.S. District Judge Thomas G. Wilson.

Yep, it seems Marion County citizens are going to have to do the jury-ing job that others won't do.

"Businessman's concealed gun thwarts robber"

For all you gun-grabbers, this is why there is an individual right to the protection of a gun.

OCALA - On Thursday night, a would-be robber thought he had an easy target and showed his pistol. What he didn't know was that businessman Leslie Morris had a gun too.

Morris pulled his Cal-Tech 9mm handgun first, and the robber ran away. Now Ocala police are looking for him.

According to an Ocala police report, Morris, 43, told a detective that as he left his Looking Good Beauty Salon, at 1971 W. Silver Springs Blvd., he saw a man with a shirt that covered his face approaching him quickly.

Morris put his hand on his gun, which was hidden in the small of his back.

Morris said the would-be robber lifted his shirt and put his hand on a silver revolver. The man said, "Hey dog," and Morris pointed his own gun at the startled robber. Morris then told the robber to drop his weapon.

"He was within a second or two of being in the morgue," Morris said in an interview with the Star-Banner.

Thank our founders for knowing that the right to defend oneself is sacrosanct and this right should be enumerated in the Bill of Rights. And thanks to the foresight of previous Florida legislatures that we have a state right to defend ourselves and lawfully carry a concealed weapon.

Barry "The Twit" Obama

From The Corner:

Can Somebody Explain to Me ... [Andy McCarthy]
... how Obama sat in Wright's church for 20 years and managed never to hear anything, but hears 20 seconds of a Bush speech that doesn't mention him and perceives a shameful personal attack?

Simple....first, he's a Democrat; second, therefore he is a liar.

And third, and this is special but not unique to Barry, he's a twit.

Christ, it's going to be a long four years if enough idiots vote for him OR if enough idiots sit on their asses or vote for someone else in November.

McCain and Gaia

Well, look who's joined the Church of Gaia!

John McCain.

I've said before that I would vote for McCain over any Democrat.

That was even when I thought he was at most 60% Republican.

Looks like I need to revise that estimate...seems like maybe 40%.

Damnit! He just keeps making it harder every day to support him.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Why doesn't he just say...hell, why didn't he say...that:
**he believes in Global Warming
**BUT that before he could commit trillions of dollars,
**he would sponsor a conference of true meterologists and weather scientists.
**he would include economists who were able to look at the big picture world-wide.
**he would solicit opinions from every vantage point and spectrum
**to assist in determining what really are the scientific and economic consensus (if there is any such thing) of the probabilities, outcome and costs of global climate change.
**THEN he would make a decision.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

But I'm only daydreaming.

Mavericks go their own way. The only opinions that matter are theirs.

Yep, it keeps getting harder and harder to support him.

Murder in The Villages-A Little More Justice

The principal murderer was finally sentenced on Monday. He got the death penalty.

OCALA — Renaldo McGirth was only 18 years old when he brutally took the life of Villages resident Diana Miller in July 2006. Now, less than two years later, a judge has decided McGirth will pay for that crime with his own life.

McGirth, who just turned 20 last week, becomes the youngest person to join the 385 people currently on Florida's death row and one of the youngest men since 1976 to be sentenced to death in the state.
*******************************
McGirth also received life sentences, with a minimum mandatory 25 years, on the attempted murder and robbery convictions. He was sentenced to 15 years for fleeing and eluding. Lambert said these three sentences will be served concurrently - meaning the clock will run on all of them simultaneously.

It's not true justice. But it's as close as we'll get with this killer.

The second killer has already been sentenced to life in prison.

And the third of the murderous trio will be in court sometime in the future. He first pled guilty and gave evidence against the other two. But then decided to recant so maybe he can get a jury a sympathetic jury.

Prosecutors say McGirth attempted to rob the Millers at their home in The Villages with two co-defendants, Jarrord Roberts, 22, and Theodore Houston, 19. Roberts was sentenced to life in prison last month for attempted armed robbery with a firearm. Houston still awaits a trial, after testifying against his two co-defendants.

And what about dear daughter Sheila?

Although McGirth and Roberts also were charged with kidnapping the Millers' daughter, Sheila, both were acquitted on that charge, after it was discovered that Sheila was a friend of the defendants who had allowed them into her parents' home.
