Location: North Central Florida, United States

I'm an aging boomer, white male (cue scary music); not religious, mostly conservative. Married to the same woman forever. No kids-by choice (I believe in personal choice in most areas of life). Voted mostly Republican until November 2000 when the national Democrats tried to steal the election in Florida. I promised to never again vote for another Democrat; kept that promise to date.

"Businessman's concealed gun thwarts robber"

For all you gun-grabbers, this is why there is an individual right to the protection of a gun.

OCALA - On Thursday night, a would-be robber thought he had an easy target and showed his pistol. What he didn't know was that businessman Leslie Morris had a gun too.

Morris pulled his Cal-Tech 9mm handgun first, and the robber ran away. Now Ocala police are looking for him.

According to an Ocala police report, Morris, 43, told a detective that as he left his Looking Good Beauty Salon, at 1971 W. Silver Springs Blvd., he saw a man with a shirt that covered his face approaching him quickly.

Morris put his hand on his gun, which was hidden in the small of his back.

Morris said the would-be robber lifted his shirt and put his hand on a silver revolver. The man said, "Hey dog," and Morris pointed his own gun at the startled robber. Morris then told the robber to drop his weapon.

"He was within a second or two of being in the morgue," Morris said in an interview with the Star-Banner.

Thank our founders for knowing that the right to defend oneself is sacrosanct and this right should be enumerated in the Bill of Rights. And thanks to the foresight of previous Florida legislatures that we have a state right to defend ourselves and lawfully carry a concealed weapon.
