Right In Florida

Motto: This is what happens when Insanity and Banality come together.

Name:
Location: North Central Florida, United States

I'm an aging boomer, white male (cue scary music); not religious, mostly conservative. Married to the same woman forever. No kids-by choice (I believe in personal choice in most areas of life). Voted mostly Republican until November 2000 when the national Democrats tried to steal the election in Florida. I promised to never again vote for another Democrat; kept that promise to date.

Murder in The Villages-Justice Begins

This has been a long time coming.

OCALA - Two of the men charged in the July 21, 2006 murder of a woman and the kidnapping of her daughter in The Villages will face a jury on Monday, despite defense requests to postpone the trial.
*************
The police allege that the three men went to the home at 269 S.E. 179th Wesley St. in the The Villages to visit their friend Sheila Miller, 40. Once there, the men allegedly shot her mother, Diana Miller, 63, in the chest and head. Sheila Miller's father James Miller was shot in the head but he survived the robbery.

The men then allegedly kidnapped Sheila Miller and drove to a Gainesville mall and tried to use several ATM cash machines to get cash out on stolen credit cards. Marion County sheriff's deputies later arrested the men after a high-speed car chase.
*************
Defense lawyers requested more time to investigate certain aspects of their case, including Sheila Miller's background. They plan on painting her as the "mastermind" in the robbery, claiming that she wanted to get her parents' life insurance money. She has a history of drug use, alcohol use and fraud, at one point getting a credit card in her mother's name and charging more than $7,000, according to a sworn statement made by James Miller.
**************
Ferro told Lambert he was not ready for trial and also argued the defense should be allowed to question Sheila Miller without restrictions.

"She is the only witness that can testify that three men did A, B and C. If we can't fully attack her . . . . then let's just put a rope around the neck of these three men and hang 'em by the statue of the confederate soldier," Ferro said. (Hint-the 3 darlings are black. Such a nice touch, you lawyer scum.)

"This is not a simple case in the sense that you have multiple stories," he argued, later adding: I want to have the ability to put on a defense.Defense lawyers also argued they could not locate Sheila Miller until last week to interview her.

She had been at the Marion County Jail for some time on a bad check charge, and recently was tracked down at an abuse shelter in South Florida.

There has been conjecture that Sheila Miller was a willing party to this atrocity. Hell, her dad-also shot and near murdered at the same time-believes it. I believe it also, but I have no proof, just common sense. Sheila is quite a piece of work, as evidenced by bold face I've added.

Here's an interesting tidbit in the news article. Hawthorne's investigator found an Internet blog that suggested Sheila Miller was involved in the crime and includes intimate details of the incident. Hawthorne told the judge she wants to find the blogger to see if the person has any personal knowledge about the case.

Well, I've blogged on this three times before, but I know of nothing other than reported in the newspaper. So I know it's not me being looked for. But there have been at least one other blog that has had some real interesting stuff (check this one out-note a recent entry from a Star Banner reporter). However, it's obvious the defense team is grasping at straws to slow down justice. The murderous assault occurred in July 2006 for Chrissakes! Get on with it.

Expect the obligatory crying mother and family members swearing these 3 little angels couldn't have done this. And if they did, it wasn't their fault. It was that junkie white woman. Hell of a defense you got there Sparky.

Louisiana Politics

During our trip, Mrs. Right and I spent quite some time in Louisiana-north and south. One constant: the radio and television had hundreds of political ads. Each one seemed to promise CHANGE and better ETHICS will happen if you vote for Mr. or Ms. Politician.

I'm glad to see that there is a possibility that such change and ethical behavior by its elected reps may now happen. Lots of changes in the people elected anyway.

Good luck, Gov. Jindal.

It won't be easy.

The idiots of Marion County

Another reason to be proud of the 'geniuses' we have here in Marion County. I was going to post this, but The Florida Masochist did it first...and better.

This fella received a well deserved "Knucklehead of the Day" and I must admit I feel another thrill to be living in this county.

Texas!

What a great state! Mrs. Right and I spent several days there on our traveling vacation. She really liked Texas....but LOVED Dallas.

Antimedia (from Media Lies): a big, wonderful state you have there. I see why you like it.

FDLE report clears police in UF Taser incident

Well, this is good news.

Remember the punk who got tasered at University of Florida a few weeks back?

Campus police officers acted properly last month when they used a Taser on University of Florida student Andrew W. Meyer, according to a Florida Department of Law Enforcement review of the incident released Wednesday.

I think their only mistake was in not using a nightstick on Meyer. (Hey, do they even have nightsticks anymore?) Or maybe not employing the efficient use a knee to the groin.

I've been gone

Yep, on a 2 week vacation with Mrs. Right. No posting, no reading of blogs. Just enjoying an extended trip with just the 2 of us. Just got back, but am really tired. Vacations are like that. It'll take a couple of days to get back in the swing of things.

Way to go, Travolta!

OCALA - Actor John Travolta got a thumbs up from the Federal Aviation Administration to land his large jet at Greystone Airport, despite opposition from airport owners James and Christine Garemore.

The actor planned to land his Boeing 707 at his home in Jumbolair Aviation Estates on Tuesday for the first time in several months.

I've blogged on this issue before.

Ahh, local celebrity. Sorta makes you feel important just to be near it.

Wow...Number 1 Again!

OCALA - Ocala's bragging rights are in full bloom.
City officials announced Tuesday that Ocala won first place in the America in Bloom competition for cities of its size and received the Five Bloom Award for placing best overall within its category. Despite the flowery name, the award recognizes much more than a beautiful area landscape.
The awards presentations were made Saturday during an event in Rockford, Ill.
Established in 2001, America in Bloom is a non-profit organization that aims to create better communities by inspiring increased involvement and civic pride. The local effort is named Ocala Pride in Bloom.

Yep, we're real proud.

Not good enough for you?

Well, hell. What has your area done?
