Right In Florida

Motto: This is what happens when Insanity and Banality come together.

Name:
Location: North Central Florida, United States

I'm an aging boomer, white male (cue scary music); not religious, mostly conservative. Married to the same woman forever. No kids-by choice (I believe in personal choice in most areas of life). Voted mostly Republican until November 2000 when the national Democrats tried to steal the election in Florida. I promised to never again vote for another Democrat; kept that promise to date.

Just Venting

Well, I've been going through the medical merry-go-round for the past several days. I had an annual physical last Wednesday, which was scheduled for 2 months after I had lots of lab work done. My doc wanted to see if I had enough blood or something. The thing is, when I met her, the lab results had been lost so I couldn't find out just how healthy I really am. They would try to find the results and I could come back (probably for another visit co-pay).

Oh, I had an ekg (which was good and normal) and a prostate physical exam (which wasn't so much fun) and she tells me it's slightly enlarged but otherwise okay. Apparently that's supposed to mean something, like she wants to put me on medication. I refused.

Then I get a chest xray (more later).

I now have to have a new battery of blood lab work. No big deal, it's just another thing to have to fit in a schedule.

She also set me up for a heart sonogram, which I had today. Second one in 3 years, 'cause I had a slightly enlarged heart (I sense a pattern) back then so she wants to be sure I'm still okay.

I got a call on Monday that the xray caused some concern and now I need to go to a specialized diagnostic firm to some more. Another thing to have to do.

Strange, 2 weeks ago I had lots of work to do, but I was feeling okay. Now it looks like I'm falling apart.

Aging definitely isn't for sissies.

And now another potential medical concern

From The Corner:

Interesting from the Times of London:
"By the end of the decade one in four new cases of schizophrenia could be triggered by smoking cannabis, scientists say."

This might have applied to me...of course a very very long time ago.

And another piece of the puzzle drops into place.

"A Gathering of Eagles"

A brief history of A Gathering of Eagles by antimedia.

I thank all the patriots that represented America, our troops and us stay-at-homes.

You made and make a difference.

Patriots always do.

Another American Poet

And that would be antimedia. A patriot...and poet.

I heard a yell

It came from Gainesville.

Seems the Florida Gators have made it to the final four.

In basketball.

Again.

Since I deal with lots of former Gators...I hope they win it all.

Again.

Oh Crap! Another possible medical problem

Just caught this from Florida Cracker:

A recent study by Northwestern University researchers revealed that men with a rare kind of dementia are more likely to have had a vasectomy than those who do not have cognitive problems. Called Primary Progressive Aphasia, or PPA, this dementia affects an individual's ability to express himself, impairing word recall and ability to understand words. The research was published in Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology.

I had a vasectomy about 30 years ago.

This could explain so much!

Yeah, we showed those damned Republicans!

We 'cut and run' conservatives voted them right out of office, we did!

And things are so much better now with the Democrats in charge. As one of our brave new leaders said on Friday's vote to screw the troops:

"We're going to make a difference with this bill," bellowed Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., a Vietnam War veteran who helped write the legislation.

"We're going to bring those troops home. We're going to start changing the direction of this great nation," he said, bringing a standing ovation and hugs from his colleagues.

Yep, we made damned sure that those overspending Republicans got the message. Life is so much better now that those overspending and treasonous Democrats are doing whatever the hell they want. Who knows, maybe they will even reduce taxes, win in Iraq, win the war on terror and protect our military.

But who cares! Even if another 9-11 happens, we showed those Republicans who's boss. Right?

Ah, brave new world.

My Dad

My Dad died 10 years ago today. I love you.
