Right In Florida

Motto: This is what happens when Insanity and Banality come together.

Name:
Location: North Central Florida, United States

I'm an aging boomer, white male (cue scary music); not religious, mostly conservative. Married to the same woman forever. No kids-by choice (I believe in personal choice in most areas of life). Voted mostly Republican until November 2000 when the national Democrats tried to steal the election in Florida. I promised to never again vote for another Democrat; kept that promise to date.

(Not so) Quick Thought-Environmentalism as Religion

Face it...the pasty face geeks who stridently tout global warming are just religious extremists.

And it's a wonderful religion: No matter what you say or what you do, you can never be wrong. The perfect religion for people with real self-esteem problems. Global cooling will kill us all unless we do something. No, wait, I mean global warming will kill us all unless we do something. Yeah, that's what I mean. Hmm, it's snowing in November? No matter, global warming causes global cooling. More hurricanes this year-I told you global warming is real. The fact that weather satellites were not around before the 60s, so we don't know all the unreported weather events in any previous decades, much less centuries. And there were only a small number of official weather reporting stations around the world much before the 40s doesn't matter. The fact that there ARE environmental statistics that cover the era since your birth is the only thing that matters. And you just know it's getting warmer. (Never mind about the cold weather scare of the 70s. In fact you're sure that was caused by global warming. Everything is just so neatly tied together.)

And although there are several anomalies you and your high priests can't explain, it doesn't matter. "We'll understand it...all by and by." Of course it's a religion.

Some people think that intelligent design is only believed by nutcases. At least those believers think there is consistency over the millennia that proves their point.
