Right In Florida

Motto: This is what happens when Insanity and Banality come together.

Name:
Location: North Central Florida, United States

I'm an aging boomer, white male (cue scary music); not religious, mostly conservative. Married to the same woman forever. No kids-by choice (I believe in personal choice in most areas of life). Voted mostly Republican until November 2000 when the national Democrats tried to steal the election in Florida. I promised to never again vote for another Democrat; kept that promise to date.

It's the Schiavo story...all over again

Michelle Malkin has lots of good stuff about a very sad matter. Haleigh Poutre is a Massachusetts 11-year old girl that was failed by the social service system. The innocent was abused by her adoptive mother and stepfather, nearly killed and was in a coma. Yes, essentially the same as Terri Schiavo.

You know the story, the state wants to kill her, the judicial system wants to kill her, a family member wants to kill her....but little Haleigh wants to live. You just know that eventually she will lose and will be murdered as was Terri. (I originally wrote 'Bastards' here, but that really wasn't appropriate.)

Look, I believe in the right to die. I'm very emphatic about it. But young Haleigh and Terri were not consulted and were not able to express themselves. In both cases there are such strange circumstances that should give everyone pause before saying both should die. This particular situation is so very sad. It would be great, though probably impractical, if Haleigh would awaken with her young mind intact.
