Right In Florida

Motto: This is what happens when Insanity and Banality come together.

Name:
Location: North Central Florida, United States

I'm an aging boomer, white male (cue scary music); not religious, mostly conservative. Married to the same woman forever. No kids-by choice (I believe in personal choice in most areas of life). Voted mostly Republican until November 2000 when the national Democrats tried to steal the election in Florida. I promised to never again vote for another Democrat; kept that promise to date.

Is there a pro-life Democrat?

According to this post from The Corner it seems the answer is no.

You remember Sen. Bob Casey Jr., the 'moderate' Democrat who was so touted as pro-life. This was done to show that at least one (actually the only one) Democrat could be called such.

Well, there was a vote and he "...voted against every other pro-lifer in the Senate."

No big shock. To be an elected Democrat today, you must give up every hard core belief you've ever had IF it conflicts with party loyalty and dogma.

I say again, there are no moderate Democrats. You may think you voted for one or more the last election, but you were lied to. Party first...convictions last. Please-don't get fooled again. That would just prove your continued gullibility.

And there are no more conservative Democrats. The last was Zell Miller, and he's gone, folks.

Wait! There is a Pro-Life Democrat, currently running for the Presidential democratic nomination.

Henry Hewes is a Federal Election Committee registered and declared
Democratic candidate for the office of President of the United States of
America.

He is the only unambiguous Faith-based, Christian candidate running in
either major political party and represents an array of innovative and
diverse ideas. His platform positions will invigorate and potentially
revolutionize the landscape of American politics and immensely benefit the
electorate of this country.

Moreover, Mr. Hewes is seemingly the ONLY candidate running who will
unashamedly and pointedly discuss his stance and position on any subject
matter relevant to the American people. He is unequivocally honest
regarding his ideas and will not defer from the open dialogue on any issue
posed from voter, commentator or any other interested party.

While perceptibly oxymoronic, the term “Moderate Democrat” defies the common ideology of the party and would leave one in a quest for the proverbial “fire breathing dragon”. That being said, there is one behemoth left in the land with enough firepower to shellshock the political masses into reality.

The beast of the least (speaking of lesser known candidates) ready to make his presence known to the electorate at large is none other than…

Henry Hewes.

Who is he you ask? He is the lone contender prepared to dispel the foolish notion that loyalty to the party and the dogmatic beliefs that steer the leadership in democratic circles somehow infringes upon your right and obligation to live life as a Christian.

Never said to be one given to conventional or traditional thought, Mr. Hewes espouses the ideal and principle that where a man’s heart is, not afar off can you find his true convictions.

God, family, and country.

This embodies the truth of Mr. Hewes’ allegiance to the most important concerns in his life. Insightful and wise, Henry Hewes will ingratiate himself to the American voter by restoring honor and dignity to the treasured chair in the Oval Office while quelling any concerns of typical political ploys to play to the perceived gullibility of the electorate.

Pro-life Democrat here. Many rank and file Democrats are pro-life. We would rather fight to regain control of our party than join the Republicans and be taken for granted.

rightdemocrat: Glad to see you are a pro-life democrat. I was talking about those in power in your party. And I know many that vote democrat are pro-life.

But I think you're misguided if you think you'd be taken for granted by republicans. Hell, you're ignored and rediculed by your fellow democrat 'leaders' which fankly is worse than being taken for granted.

But...different strokes. And tell me, just how well is it going taking back control of your party? There's not a pro-lifer running for president...is there? Oh, there is at least one who used to be. That isn't that kinda sad...and typical: used to be?

Please check out the Democrats For Life of America website at www.democratsforlife.org to get a true education concerning pro-life democrats. These guys should be commended for their boldness and sincerity against tough opposition. And oh by the way... there ARE PRO-LIFE DEMOCRATS. The (bi-partisan)Pro-Life House Caucus (yes, Toto, "bi-parisan")has 37 pro-life democratic members. The democratic co-chair is Bart Stupak of Michigan. The senate now has two pro-life democrats - Nelson of Nebraska and Casey of Pennysylvania. Please check out Casey's recent sponsorship of the Pregnant Women's Support Act (S.2407) to see what pro-life democrats are doing.
Readers, please educate yourselves before making ignorant and foolish comments about pro-life democrats!

If you are a demarcate, doesn’t that mean you consistently vote for democrat nominees? Since practically 100% of Democrat nominees are “pro-choice” and will vote in that direction if elected are you not supporting abortion by voting for those nominees? Meaning you are supporting the “pro-choice” ideal, whether you personally believe in it or not? If you are in fact Pro-life, then act like it and support the cause to save life by voting for nominees who will support the right for life. You may agree in your mind with pro-life, but if you are a democrat and you vote democrat then despite what you think, your actions are directly opposed to the idea of right to life.

To anonymous: Sorry for delay in responding. Blogger didn't show you clearly as a commenter.

Okay, love the passion, but PLEASE READ my post again. It specifically mentioned Casey, whom you tout as pro-lifer, who now that he is in leadership did and I quote:

Well, there was a vote and he "...voted against every other pro-lifer in the Senate."

Saying you're pro-life and actually being pro-life when it counts are very different. It usually takes a Democrat to be pro-life, but vote against pro-life issues.

But thanks for the comment. And yes, I too often paint with too broad a brush. But seeing as how I'm mostly pro-choice, I can spot a fellow waffler regardless of the party affiliation.

And jonathan, I appreciate your comment. It must be truly head spinning to be a Democrat who is truly pro-life. To have to vote for someone because he's a Democrat but whom you believe is all for partial birth abortion must be hurtful. Yet Dems do it all the time.
