We grow some real smart ones here
Yep, right here in Ocala/Marion County. Just look at the ol' Ocala Star-Banner.
Where to begin?
How about: "Two teens accused of burglary were caught after they apparently failed to log off a MySpace.com account on a computer in the home." Frankly this just about says it all, no need to read the rest of the story.
Moving on to adults: "A former office manager for two Ocala doctors turned herself in shortly before noon Monday after being accused of stealing nearly $70,000 from the business, according to an Ocala police report." This genius got caught because "...only a few records of any cash ever being deposited into the business' bank account." And she continue to steal the cash even while she "...was injured and allowed to work from her home, according to the report." Employees became suspicious and decided to do their own investigation. Between Jan. 22 and 29, employees said they photocopied the cash that came into the business, the report noted. The money, along with the day's work, was then delivered to Gulick's home. When the employees returned to pick up the cash, Gulick reportedly gave them a deposit for the business and also asked them to take her personal deposit to the bank. The employees compared the office's photocopied cash and the cash that Gulick asked to be deposited into her own account. The bills matched." Quite the smooth move, Capone.
And to our boys in blue: "The off-duty deputy was driving a car that crashed, ran away because he feared he was over the legal alcohol limit and then urged his friends not to tell Ocala police he was involved." Way to go, Columbo.
Some days you can get so proud of where you live. Some might feel a bit superior...but that ain't too hard with this bunch.
