Right In Florida

Motto: This is what happens when Insanity and Banality come together.

Name:
Location: North Central Florida, United States

I'm an aging boomer, white male (cue scary music); not religious, mostly conservative. Married to the same woman forever. No kids-by choice (I believe in personal choice in most areas of life). Voted mostly Republican until November 2000 when the national Democrats tried to steal the election in Florida. I promised to never again vote for another Democrat; kept that promise to date.

Thanks, Ace...that's the perfect song

Ace of Spades HQ has a post that identifies the perfect song for the recent spate of "cut and run" conservatives. I know you will agree: "Like a Rolling Stone"

While I was driving from jobsite to jobsite yesterday, I had the Rolling Stones' "Stripped" disc in the player. It's acoustic versions of old Stones songs & covers from small club gigs and rehearsal sessions, and they do a version of "Like a Rolling Stone" on it. If I remember correctly, this song was on the soundtrack for the Sly Stallone/Antonio Banderas movie about assassins from the late 90's. A couple of verses jumped out at me:

You said you'd never compromise
With the mystery tramp, but now you realize
He's not selling any alibis
As you stare into the vacuum of his eyes
And ask him do you want to make a deal?

They might not have any idea who the "mystery tramp" is, and what he'll do when and if he comes to power, but they're more than willing to talk to him, since his voice causes orgasmic leg cramps among the Beltway insiders (all except Krauthammer - I guess not being able to feel your legs just might have ONE advantage).

You used to ride on the chrome horse with your diplomat
Who carried on his shoulder a Siamese cat
Ain't it hard when you discover that
He really wasn't where it's at
After he took from you everything he could steal.

But what the Hell, right? After all, he's a Hah-vahd man. That qualifies him to run the country, right?

Ace also mentions Dylan's "Positively 4th Street. Also appropriate.
