I'm an aging boomer, white male (cue scary music); not religious, mostly conservative. Married to the same woman forever. No kids-by choice (I believe in personal choice in most areas of life). Voted mostly Republican until November 2000 when the national Democrats tried to steal the election in Florida. I promised to never again vote for another Democrat; kept that promise to date.

Local news that could be from Anywhere USA

OCALA -- Federal Signal Corp. is "frustrated" with the response of state and local officials to the company's request for economic incentives to build a new E-One plant in Ocala, company President and CEO Robert Welding told investors today.

Frustrated? This company is trying to hold up local and state taxpayers to prevent them from moving to another state. Well, bidding went from $13.5 million to over $25 million. That's real money, folks, money that will come from the taxpayers.

This is to keep a company from taking almost 2,000 jobs to another state. But if we pay enough, E-One will stay here.

Frankly, I'm feeling a bit like a john finding out how much a hooker costs.

But maybe that's just me.
