Friday was an understated day
Because it was my wife's birthday. She turned....well, let's say we both have reached an age when we say that age isn't important. And in her case it's true. I swear she looks as beautiful as when I met her 32 years ago. She says I'm a liar, but it's true. You gotta believe me. On the other hand, I look older than dirt. I'm convinced I'm doing the aging for both of us.
We didn't do anything significant to celebrate, but then we never do celebrate our birthdays. That stopped shortly after we married, including gift giving. Since it's impossible to surprise her and I don't really care for gifts, we buy things during the year and claim it's for a birthday or holiday. We also don't celebrate most holidays and often barely acknowledge them. We decided that we would create other ways and days to 'celebrate' and it's worked well for decades. I hope there are decades left to continue to do so.
Oh, yeah, I took off from work Thursday thru Tuesday so I can be with her (whether she wanted it or not).
