Name:
Location: North Central Florida, United States

I'm an aging boomer, white male (cue scary music); not religious, mostly conservative. Married to the same woman forever. No kids-by choice (I believe in personal choice in most areas of life). Voted mostly Republican until November 2000 when the national Democrats tried to steal the election in Florida. I promised to never again vote for another Democrat; kept that promise to date.

The Travolta's Grief

There was such an outpouring of grief by the Travolta's neighbors. But it was typically low key. Which was and is fitting because John Travolta and Kelly Preston have been low key, but very good, neighbors.

This is a letter of appreciation from the Travolta's to their Ocala/Marion County neighbors.

And we accept it with great sadness.

Most who stopped were locals, just regular people who wanted to do something — anything — for grieving movie stars. When asked, most echoed the same sentiment: John Travolta and Kelly Preston, Jett's parents, are more than just celebrities in a small town; they are valued neighbors who have suffered an imaginable loss.

In interviews and public appearances, Travolta and Preston have for years proclaimed their allegiance to and affection for Marion County. On Monday, the family released a letter to local residents and officials, thanking them for their support and prayers, as well as the cards and flowers dropped off at their "doorstep."

"What we have experienced in Ocala transcends neighborly civility," said the letter signed "Love John, Kelly and Ella." Travolta's Tampa-based attorney Michael McDermott sent the letter to the Star-Banner Monday morning, noting the family requested it run in the newspaper.
